Rarest fossil discovery of 2023 (so far) found fossil hunting in Florida
Nemo and Nomad electric hookah: lddy.no/1eo6h (use code: Discover)
Today, I head out to back dive a spot we found a few years ago. The last time I dove here I found a giant sloth claw core from the Ice Age of Florida. Since the river has flooded significantly due to several massive storms. We are hoping that flood-stage conditions uncovered new fossils.

About me:
My name is Rick Cochrane, I am an experienced relic hunter and scuba diver. My passion lies in discovering fossils, artifacts, and other treasures through digging, metal-detecting, and underwater exploration. I document my adventures on UA-cam and enjoy sharing my finds with others. My expertise in artifact hunting involves the excavation of Native American artifacts such as arrowheads and spear points on private property with the proper permissions.
As a highly trained scuba diver and instructor, I regularly dive in dark water rivers throughout Florida and the US east coast. Despite the challenges posed by limited visibility and potential wildlife hazards, I undertake these dives with the utmost caution and utilize my training to minimize risks. However, I strongly advise against attempting solo dives in these conditions without proper training, experience, and a complete understanding of the risk.
It is important to note that removing artifacts from state or federal land, including waterways, in the State of Florida is illegal. Artifacts can only be removed on private property with the land owners permission.
Have any questions or need help identifying a fossil or artifact? Feel free to email me anytime! I'm open to discussing fossils, artifacts, collaborations, sponsorships, and product reviews Email: rrcfla@gmail.com

Nemo and Nomad electric hookah: lddy.no/1eo6h (use code: Discover) Today, we have joined forces with Adventure Outfitter and Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful to conduct a cleanup effort following the 2023 Gasparilla Parade. Our focus is on the mouth of the Hillsborough River where it meets the bay, a high-density area for parade-related waste. During our cleanup, we retrieved a significant amount of be...

I went out with my Friend Rob who is the Owner of The Big Dig Florida. This is one of the first (perhaps only) 100% legal, insured, and open-to-the-public arrowhead, spearpoint, and artifact dig sites in Florida. Similar open-to-public sites exist in Texas; however, only in Florida can you discover the coveted Coral Spear point made from Agatized Coral. Florida is one of the only places in the ...

Back on the hunt we head to a private 130-acre ranch and stumble on one of my best finds yet! A near complete lower American Mastodon lower mandible (jaw) complete with lower tusks. As we excavate we begin to realize this is no isolated fossil, but instead a massive Mastoson grave site with all the fossils belonging to one extinct animal. We locate two complete mastodon tusks and from the size ...

I am finally back on a fossil hunt after a long break due to covid-19 and a new baby. I hope to get a video out at least twice a month. On this hunt I team up with my friend Henry @thinkseek and we hit a secluded river in south Florida known for mastodon teeth and that is exactly what we discover. A mastodon an extinct genus Mammut (family Mammutidae) that inhabited North and Central America du...

Cris and I are on another Florida Fossil hunting adventure. We revisit spot we have recovered many exceptional fossils from. Cris already discovered a rare Jaguar canine fossil and now we hit it big with a massive Auriculatus shark tooth. Fossil shark teeth are fairly common in Florida, but not all species, some are rather rare. Megalodon shark teeth are among the most common. This Auriculatus ...

    Perhaps you could set up a petition to Stop the Beads. Suggest people make necklaces with popcorn, flowers, nuts or seeds instead of using Plastic ones. I know part of the fun is grabbing the necklaces thrown from the pirate ship but in 2024 is it really necessary?

    A fantastic video!! Meant to ask you if you solely use SCUBA gear or also something else? My partner is a passionate treasure hunter and I was wondering if something like Hookah Dive System would be good as well in terms of load you carry, flexibility, time under water, etc. Have you got any experience with that please that you could share so I can plan a birthday present for him eventually :) or what are the most important factors for you when under water, to help me understand what to look at, thank you in advance !

    • @83KJack
      @83KJack 8 місяців тому

      the whole thing like it is is extremely valuable compared to other minerals. I just spent a year collecting over a ton of this stuff and havent found one that nice yet. That one there is absolutely AAA quality and super super rare. Id probably sell it for around $300-$400 per side. Quartz on agatized coral is worth way more than just by itself you can find that stuff everywhere super cheap.

    Great job, thanks for cleaning all that up! In this day and age, isn't there something we can come up with rather than these darn plastic bead necklaces? I know it's tradition at these big celebrations to collect as many as you can, but they end up just being litter. You shouldn't have to organize a dive event to clean the trash up from that celebration.
